Teeth, teeth, and more teeth
Well, the whole tooth brushing idea didn't work all that well. I had that loosening tooth which finally got so loose they recommended extraction. So Momma took me to a dental specialist because my mouth is very tiny and my doctor recommended this nice guy. Anyway, the plan was that he would give me a sedative, take x-rays, then put me under and pull the teeth that absolutely had to come out. He and Momma agreed that if there was a chance of saving the tooth, to give it a try. Well, 2 hours and 7, yes SEVEN!, teeth later Momma came to get me. I was pretty groggy and not real happy. That stuff hurts! Thank goodness for pain meds is all I've got to say on that subject. Oh, and thank goodness we canines are born with about 42 teeth--10 more than humans. I'm down to around 34-35 (I was born with a few missing--seems it's common in the wee ones as how in the world would you fit 42 teeth in MY tiny mouth?!) but it hasn't slowed me down a bit. In fact, au contraire: I eat my dinner faster than I ever have. Apparently I actually AM a chow hound but couldn't eat fast because my teeth always hurt. I tried to tell the peeps but it's hard, ya know. They just don't get me sometimes. The lesson for all of you is GET YOUR ANNUAL ANESTHETIC DENTALS especially if you're a small one. We are prone to gum disease and you don't want to end up a toothless wonder like me. That was NOT a fun experience. Oh, and keep up the daily brushing! I'm religious about it now. Hugs and sweet-smelling kisses! PS: Forgot to take pix in San Antonio. Not much to see. That's the tiniest Riverwalk I've ever seen! I much prefer the one along the Seine...

On another note...
I have recently begun brushing my teeth every single day. I get them cleaned monthly (non anesthetic cleaning) and have for years. But I still managed to get a loosening tooth. So the Peeps have taken to helping me brush daily. Actually, it's more of a scrubbing of the gums, because that's what the experts recommend. Just on the outside of the teeth--no need to try the inside. We take a little poultry-flavored toothpaste (mmm, makes me lick my chops) and a cat toothbrush (for my tiny mouth) and away we scrub! Daddy holds me down while Momma does the dirty work. After just a week, I've gotten to not mind it much. I almost hold still. But not totally or they'd think I'd gone nuts. Happy Brushing!

Autumnal Update
Sorry for not having written in awhile. It's not that I've been busy, or traveling, or anything. Just lazy I guess. We got through the fires with no harm to family or friends. Many close calls but nothing too bad. We, at the beach, were safe but very very smoky. Two days I had to go on VERY short walks because of the extremely poor air quality. I'm off to San Antonio, TX for a trip in a week. Can't wait! Never been there. I heard the Riverwalk is supposed to be very fun. I'm guessing it will be a good place to, um, WALK. Just Momma and I are going. For two whole days. She has to go on a "site visit" or something. I'm going on a sniff visit. Will post pics when I get back. Oh, and I posted some new photos to the website this morning so do check them out! Especially my cousin Jasper. He's funny.

Phew! That was close...
Somehow, my website 'went down' yesterday and I had no idea. Thanks to my good friend, Lacey, all is well and the site is back up. Lacey didn't actually fix it but she did alert me to the fact that it wasn't working so that I could pop off an email to tech support. Can you imagine not being able to read my diary?? Yikes. Well, have a great weekend. I'm off to Vancouver, BC with the peeps. Staying in some fancy schmancy hotel up there. Apparently they're going to bring me my own bed. Problem is Daddy and I both really prefer our own bed at home. Whatever. That Momma of mine. She just loves to travel! And shop. I'll post pix when we get back. XXOO

Spring has sprung
Easter is over and I sure had a good time chasing that Bunny all over the place. The best part was the egg hunt--I'm REALLY good at it. Did you have fun? Did you eat lotsa chocolate? How about jelly beans? And how about MY personal favorite: Peeps! I like the furry ones that make noise the best. The yellow and pink candy ones are OK but those little ones that scurry around and peep are so fun. I can't ever catch them but boy if I did...I'd lick them all over! Well, I'm off for my morning ritual. Go out and make it a great day!

It's good to be home!
Sorry I haven't written in so long but I've been busy traveling with my peeps. Palm Desert, Atlanta, Mammoth, Atlanta...phew! It's good to be home for awhile. I can rest up and see friends. Not that I have that many but I do miss Katie and Genevieve and Sport when I'm off on my travels. Do check out my travel log to see some photos from my most recent trip to not so "HotLanta" where I nearly froze my tushie off! Hope you're all making it through winter OK. I just got back from a looooooong walk on the beach. It's a gorgeous day: blue skies and big white puffy clouds. What more could a girl ask for? (besides liver treats...) TTYS.

My favorite poem
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, To the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." ~Anonymous~

Wow! What a storm!
What an end to summer we're having here in So Cal. The other night we had the hugest thunderstorm I've ever seen or heard. We don't get much thunder and lightning around here--though I did see some pretty good stuff at my great aunt's house in Atlanta--so the storm we had the other night was simply GINORMOUS! Really bright, really close, fast moving and loud. But don't worry, friends, just like fireworks, I wasn't bothered AT ALL. Slept through most of it. The only thing I didn't care much for were the flashes of light because they kept disturbing my sleep. Annoying. Don't they KNOW I need my beauty sleep? "Hey! Keep it down up there!!" So, lots of light and lots of noise and lots of rain. I had to walk in the rain yesterday, which I don't care much for because I really don't like getting wet, but I was a trooper for Bridget and gave it up like a pro. Lots of wet kisses to all! Stay dry.

August already?
Wow, time sure flies when you're a dog. Well, maybe it flies for everyone but I wouldn't know that. Anyway, it just seems like yesterday that summer started and now people are starting to talk about back to school. I love school! I go to school with my cousins. It's very fun. We run around and around the track. Genevieve likes to chase me and try to scare me. I just stay way behind her so she can't. Hehehehe. Tricky me! I can run up to 3 miles. How many can YOU run? PS: Hi Gogo!

Summer's back...
And the livin' is easy. I still have dreams about my trip to France and can't wait to go back. But in the meantime, I'll just enjoy summer here at the beach. The 4th of July went as usual. And, in honor of my latest trip and my roots, we celebrated Bastille Day (July 14) by learning the words to "La Marseillaise". Actually, I only learned the refrain but that's pretty good...for a dog! Allons enfants de la patrie...

Que sera, sera...
Bonjour, mes amis. I've just returned from gay Paris! And let me tell you, it was FAB-ulous! OK. So the trip over was just alright. Veerrrrry long. But once we got there...Ooh-la-la. Those French are great, as far as I'm concerned. They eat liver EVERY DAY! So, of course, as my momma taught me: When in Rome...now, I'm not sure exactly what that means but what it meant to me was liver every day. Yippee! I got to go almost everywhere: stores, restaurants, cafés, the metro, buses, TGV, more restaurants and yes, more stores. The only place I wasn't allowed was the museums. We learned that one the hard way: I got KICKED OUT of a museum! Do you have any idea how humiliating that is? Just when I was starting to enjoy the sculpture. Oh well. I never really liked Rodin all that much. So here I am back in the States. I must get busy updating the travel page of my website! Au revoir~

Hoooooo-wheeeee!
It's a scorcher!! Are you hot right now? I know I sure am. I tried to go for a run this morning but kept having to stop. It's too darn hot. Why do they call this the "dog days of summer"??? Dogs don't like days like this. That's just plain silly. Well, my little furry friends, stay cool and drink lots of water. XXOO Lily

I just love the 4th of July
What a great holiday! We go over to my cousin Genevieve's house and "Vivi" (as I call her) and I get busy cleaning floors. You see, her peeps have all sorts of other peeps over and it is our job to keep the floors free of debris: tortilla chip pieces, cookie bits, brownie crumbs. It's all fair game to us two. There's tons of food in every room and we just go around behind the people (especially the kids!) and pick up the droppings. I do wish there was a little more fallout near the BBQ--whatever it is that John's cooking sure does smell good!--but he's very careful to NOT drop stuff for us to find. Darn. But it's OK because I am soooo stuffed afterwards that a good walk home is in order. Oh, and for some odd reason, fireworks don't bother ME one single bit. I like to watch them! Isn't that odd? Oh well, I guess I'm just a little different than some because my poor cousin Vivi gets all shaky and freaked out at every loud bang. Happy 4th!

Summer's here...
and the fleas are out in full force. Have you been having issues with fleas too? Those nasty little biting things. They are mean and they bite me and it itches and I don't like them. I wish they would go away. What purpose do they serve anyway?? Momma gave me that pill to get rid of them but it doesn't work too quickly and she doesn't like to put Advantage on me because it makes me loopy. Have you ever seen a loopy 4-pound Papillon? Not pretty. Ooooh, gotta go. Have to scratch. Bye!

Wow! What a weekend...

I spent the entire day Saturday at a local car dealership with Momma, Grandma, my two uncles and my cousin, Jasper. It was very tiring. They all kept talking about numbers and features and warranties. Exhausting! The only fun part was roaming free around the lot because there are tons of little brown bunnies there. Jasper and I chased them. Well, actually, I spotted them first but Jasper's bigger and faster than I am so HE chased them. But it was still a fun game. And then Grandma got a new car. It's very pretty and my booster car seat will fit just fine in the back seat. That was one of the criteria for purchase, along with an extended warranty.

Yesterday we just took it easy. No bath, no nail trim, no "grooming" of any kind. That's the best kind of day in MY book. Momma worked on her taxes. She grumbled a lot.

Well, it's the beginning of the week. Must go get the folks off to work!

xxoo

I'm soooooo dirty!
I haven't had a bath for almost a month because Momma's been "too busy" every weekend. Since she wasn't here, I think she was out having fun but she promises that she's been working while she was away from home. I don't really believe her because she mentioned something about snow (which I love love love) and Canada. Sounds fishy to me...stay tuned.

Post-bath
P.U.! I stink. Well, the folks say I smell good but I don't believe them. Oatmeal shampoo with a hint of Infusium 23 to detangle. Yuck. I don't care much for blow dryers. They're so noisy. And you KNOW I don't like noisy things.

Hi, this is Lily!

Welcome to my first blog!

I love you all!

I went for a run today. 3 miles in the wilderness! It was very fun but I would've preferred to go a little slower so I could stop and sniff everything. Why does Momma run like that? What's the hurry? Well, off to take a bath. I'm dirty and smelly (so they say) and quite possibly have a flea. I hate fleas! They itch.
